Data into Knowledge

Examples of mineral logs

Wireline logs are not direct measurements of geological or geotechnical parameters. Most of the outputs are log curves that infer certain geologic conditions. The geologist will not normally be familiar with all the relationships between log curves and rock mass characteristics and the factors that might perturb these relationships. There is a gap between the sphere of knowledge of the geologist and that of the logging practitioner. This gap can be closed by wireline log analysis, presentation and reporting of a high standard that is focussed on the particular geological or geotechnical problem for which the drilling programme was designed to address.
